Door to the Jungle

GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION
Iquitos is located on the left bank of the Amazon River , on the nor oriental region of Peru, in the Department of Loreto.

POPULATION
It has a population of 254,000 inhabitants.

CAPITAL OF THE DEPARTMENT 
Iquitos , capital of Loreto, is located at an altitude of 133 meters above sea level.

CLIMATE
Tropical , hot and humid. Rains during most of the year. Average temperature is about 28°C on Summer (July to September). Temperature rises to 42°C from November to April, the minimum temperature is 20°C.

ACCESS / APPROACH
By Air:
Its the door of entry to the Jungle. Daily flights joining Lima, Tarapoto and Pucallpa.
By River:
It communicates  from Pucallpa, navigating on the Ucayali River, the distance is aprox. of 990 kilometers, a 5 day adventure. Also there is other routes such as the Amazonas, Napo and Marañon.
