THE MIRRORS OF THE SKY

GENERAL INFORMATION

A great trail in the Northern part of the Andes, the Cordillera Huayhuash , that limits with Ancash, Huanuco and Lima. The Cordillera Huayhuash is also known as the mirrors of the sky because of the view of mountains and lakes, located between the Cordillera Blanca and Raura. This trail has been during centuries a road of communications which once belonged to the system of the inca trails. The main inca trail went parallel to the north part going in Baños (Nupe River) and coming out in Cajatambo to the coast ending in Pativilca or Paramonga. This trek goes through valleys  and lakes, making a great view of landscapes with mountains and a special mystic feeling to be away from civilization. Even though, that in the last few years, the advance of communications have made roads in some parts that use to be the trail.  Also this mountain range has been the direct participant of a movie "Touch in the Void". The trail goes in the deep part of the Andes, having a good view of this range with spectacular views and able to see the Yerupaja (second highest peak of Perú), Jirishanca, Suila, Carnicero, Cuyoc and the west part of the Raura range. Lakes such as Mitucocha, Carhuacocha, Jahuacocha which will leave a great memory of this trip.
