UPDATE!!!

Rayner ordered to stand trial for Beairsto murder Last Updated: Wednesday, August 30, 2006 | 3:49 PM AT CBC News
The man accused of killing Chrystal Dawn Beairsto four years ago has been ordered to stand trial for first-degree murder.
John Rayner, 43, sat quietly Wednesday as provincial court Judge Nancy Orr told the court there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.
Beairsto's body was found near the Confederation Trail in Charlottetown in July 2002. The 23-year-old mother of two had been stabbed.
Rayner has been in custody since his arrest last December. He was picked up in Toronto the day he was released from serving a 16-month sentence in an unrelated case.
A preliminary inquiry began in July to determine whether the Crown had enough evidence to put Rayner on trial for Beairsto's slaying.
There's a publication ban on evidence presented during the inquiry, but prosecutors brought in boxes of evidence and exhibits.
The Crown also presented videotaped evidence and called more than two dozen witnesses to testify, including many local police officers involved in the investigation.
Rayner's next court appearance is Oct. 13 when he will appear before a justice of the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island to enter a plea.

As posted on cbc.ca on Friday, July 29, 2005:
Three years after Chrystal Beairsto's body was found just off the Confederation Trail in Charlottetown, police are following a new lead in her murder.
Police say they have identified what they call a primary person of interest, one man who has been moved to the top of their list of suspects.
"Through the investigation, the evidence and forensic testing that has been conducted, a combination of all three, we have identified a primary person of interest," says Charlottetown deputy police chief Richard Collins.
"We are going back and tracking the movements and contacts of this individual."
Collins says the man, now in his early 40s, was living on the Island at the time of the murder but has since moved away.
"There is something substantive there that we feel makes it worthy to concentrate on this one individual and do this at a feverish pace," he says.
"We still have probably upwards of two months work ahead of us before we can really say unequivocally whether this person will continue to be of interest to us."
Three years of investigation have led to a lot of evidence for police to sort through. Police put up posters with pictures of Beairsto's clothing and bicycle, leading to hundreds of tips, but no arrests.
Recently, a trail which seemed to be turning cold became warm once again. Police have four officers concentrating on finding new evidence about their primary person of interest.
"We're looking at when he was living here, his movements, his contacts, both from personal, family nature, work nature, any involvement he may or may not have had with the victim," says Collins.
They're also comparing what they know about him, with a behavioural profile prepared by police experts.
Police say they have further interviews to conduct, further investigations to pursue and further forensic testing to complete. They feel they should know in a couple of months whether there's enough evidence to lay a charge, or whether to rule out this man as a suspect.
Chrystal Beairsto was 23 when she was stabbed to death, and the mother of two children.
