ALTITUDE The town of Chavin is at 3,100 mts. above sea level. POPULATION It has a population of 5,900 inhabitants. CLIMATE Most of the year is lukewarm. In summer (December to March) is the rainy season with sunny mornings and in winter (June to September) during the day, its warm and at night, cold. ACCESS / APPROACH By Land: It communicates from Lima by the Northern Pan-American Highway that goes to Huaraz. At the intersection of Catac, the road (paved) heads east towards the Conchucos Valley were Chavin is located. It takes aprox. 9 hours from Lima and 21/2 hrs. from Huaraz.
