I am a breast cancer survivor.
November of 1999, one year cancer-free!!! :o)

Hi...My name is Debbie and I would like to thank you for stopping by my site. I live in Scranton, PA. I have six kids and five beautiful grandchildren.
I love the rain. I love the sound of rain and I love the feel of the rain hitting my body. If no one is looking, I may take a jump or two in a puddle. (You know Moms, the same thing we chastise our kids for? :o) If I get a strange look from a passer-by, I may stick my tongue, or just give them a smile, depending on my mood...
I love all kinds of music and dancing. What kind of music I listen to depends on my mood.
All of my poems are writitngs from my heart, my soul, my mind. Each one has a story of some event or emotion in my life, whether it be sad, happy, or hurt.
My poems were written over many years. They are not placed in categories nor by the year they were written. Something I wrote years ago may not have the same bearings on my feelings today, but was something I felt deeply about when I was writing them. About the only ones that haven't changed my feelings much would be the poems I wrote when I was hurt. A lot of times, as you will notice, I have a hard time coming up with titles that go with the poems.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your visit. ~Debbie~

*Just a little something I read one time and it kind of stuck with me... 'How old would you be if you didn't know your age?' ;o)
Now there's something to think about!

I don't seem to have much luck with my guest books. . Here it is Dec. 28th, almost a New Year and all that jazz and here I am putting up the 4th guest book since I've had this site... I hope I have better luck with this one than I've been having. Please take pity on me and sign the guest book... Thanks ~Debbie

Here is a message I hope all will take heed to: Please do monthly self-breast examinations. Around Nov. 5, 1998 I found a lump in my breast. I only waited a few days before I called the doctor. Within days I had a mammogram, ultra sound, and biopsy. On November 30, 1998, I was admitted to the hospital to have my right breast removed. The doctor removed 10 lymph nodes from under the arm to have them checked out. My guardian angel must have been looking out for me because all 10 were benign. A year ago in Sept. I had a hysterectomy because of cancer. I was told then to have a mammogram done just to cover all bases. Being I did not have insurance, I did not have it done. I can't help but wonder if I had had the mammogram, would they have been able to save my breast. I am 45 years old and this probably could have been prevented. If no insurance is your problem, as was mine, with the mammogram I just had, I called the American Cancer Society and thru a program called the Komen plan, they paid for this mammogram. Please, don't needlessly go thru this if it is preventable.... Debbie

If you would like, please take this dove with you to place on your site to show support for cancer patients and their families~
