This is my favourite part of Switzerland; the Jungfrau mountain range is an awesome backdrop to the town. The scenery is so beautiful, and there is so much to do and see. Trains will take you up into the mountains; boats criss-cross the lakes of Brienz and Thun. There are endless hiking opportunities. I've been here three times now, and each time at the end of my stay I really didn't want to leave....

This building is in the market square, which is kinda
tucked away behind the Information Centre. There are
a number of good cafes in the square!
At Meiringen, situated at the far end of Lake Brienz,
I visited the famous Reichenbach Falls...
...Yes, it's where Sherlock Holmes fell
to his "death" fighting his arch enemy Professor Moriarty! And the Swiss
have honoured the great detective!
This is the English church in Meiringen. In the
basement is a wonderful Sherlock Holmes museum,
complete with a reproduction of his rooms in Baker Street.
This is Grindelwald, on the way up into the
Jungfrau mountains. You get some amazing views
of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau from the town.
And, with plenty of shops, it's good place for
walking round!
A view across Lake Thun from the terrace on
Harder Kulm, a small mountain behind Interlaken.
Here you can get incredible views across Interlaken
to the Jungrau mountains, the Lauterbrunnen Valley
and the lakes of Thun and Brienz.
Another view from the terrace, this time across
Lake Brienz. It was a beautiful warm day, and
I had lunch on the terrace...there's a very good
cafe there.
