Brunnen, Switzerland

I arrived in Brunnen on a beautiful sunny day. The town is situated on the shores of Lake Lucerne and boasts wonderful views across the crystal clear waters. It was wonderful to sit on the hotel terrace overlooking the lake, and to watch the sunset! The next day, I took one of the many steam boats across the east end of the lake to the town of Fluelen, taking in several stops on the way. I love the way you can hop off and on these regular services.

I stayed in Brunnen for two days, then took a leisurely drive to Interlaken, via the Brunig Pass.

Sunset over Lake Lucerne. I took this from the terrace at the back of the Bellevue Hotel, where I was staying. I then had dinner and a couple of beers, relaxed and just enjoyed the views!
The boat makes several stops on its way across the lake. My first stop was at Rutli, where the Swiss federation was founded in 1291. I took this walking down the path back towards the lake.
William Tell's chapel. According to legend, this was the spot where Tell swam ashore after escaping from a boat taking him to prison.
A church perched on a hill in Fluelen. Makes for a nice photo! Boats dock at Fluelen, and the traveller can change to the William Tell Express, which runs through the St. Gotthard tunnel. However, I headed back on the boat to Brunnen!
