NEFESH HAYA SCHOOL OF OPHANIM AND PROPHETIC JEWISH MEDITATION

"Lamed" |
Ophanim - "Yoga" of the Kabalah!
The original "Yoga" and "Internal Energy Exercises" of Israel based on fundamental teachings of the Hebrew alphabet attributed to Abraham, unifying body-breath-mind-soul through embodiment of the sacred "signs" of the Hebrew alphabet and meditation with and breathing the Name of God.
Experience harmony, healing, joy, and new levels of spiritual awakening gained through the "Prayer of the Body".
Each month, day , and hour is a unique creation. We can attune ourselves to the creation of each day, letter by letter to renew body, emotion, mind, and soul. The Hebrew letters are a language permitting communication between the levels of a person's own soul and the clearer reading and harmonizing with the outward "signs" of the creation.

JEWISH PROPHETIC MEDITATION Techniques of the prophets for settling the mind and accessing the true inner voice, the God within, Tikkun Hanefesh (repair of the soul) |
Jewish Meditation is a part of the universal human capacity and practice of meditation which distinctively works with the instrument of the Hebrew alphabet. The Hebrew alphabet in the form of Names of G-d and names for particular entities and qualities becomes the key for awakening different attributes within the soul/mind including the rejuvenation of the body. There are simple, powerful, traditional techniques which are effective in clearing and stabilizing the mind, renewing and expanding one's mental space, in helping a person to let go and receive the influx of new vitality, and in gaining access to one's "inner voice" which is also known as the "voice of prophecy". The meditation stages are concerned with what is known as "Tikun Hanefesh". They form a unified whole, gradually leading a person "up the ladder" of his/her soul. All of them are well attested to in the tradition of kaballah. What is remarkable is how they work together. For this we can thank Rav Gedalyah Koenig of blessed memory, who transmitted the system to my teacher. This system is probably the best Jewish one available now, according to the reports of our students over the years. It really is quite simple, you have a temple within, you learn to enter it, clean it up, bring more light to shine in it, stabilize the quality of mind that you develop, awaken all the centers in your "body", then unify them so that your awareness and mind is one, and you will have a greater access to the voice of prophecy within. This is the idea of the tikun hanefesh. When you can do it within yourself, it has implications for the overal tikun of the world.

The purpose
of Nefesh Haya is to teach and train teachers in
the practices of Ophanim and in the specific system of Jewish meditation which
we call “Prophetic Jewish Meditation”.
Ophanim is the system of meditation integrated with body postures which
works with the spiritual and energetic attributes of the Hebrew letters. Prophetic Jewish meditation is a series
of seven stages/techniques in which the person moves up the ladder of his/her
soul to reach a state of mental stability, renewal, expansion and greater
access to the inner voice/God-within.
These stages are all based on traditional kabalistic techniques and a
sequence of practice which was transmitted by one of the greatest modern
Breslover Chassidim and Kabalists, Rav Gedalyah Aharon Koenig z”l.of Zfat and
Jerusalem. To make this precious
knowledge available, Nefesh Haya offers various classes, workshops, and
training intensives in Israel, the US and England.
There is also now a network of trained
teachers in parts of the US, Canada and England.
The practices of Ophanim and Jewish
meditation do not exist in a vacuum, but traditionally are connected with a
full spiritual life which includes prayer (solitary and communal) and
study. In fact, they are preparations
for prayer. Nefesh Haya presents
relevant teachings from such Chassidic masters as the Baal Shem Tov and Rabbi
Nachman and the Sephardic Kabbalists to nourish this connection. This teaching is also done through
storytelling and song in the tradition of the Chassidim, and in particular the
great Reb Shlomo Carlebach z”l.
These teachings breathe new life and add new dimensions to our lives as
Jews.
