TANNERSVILLE, PA. - Few issues in health care have hit a cord with
the American public as the freedom to choose one's doctor or health care
provider. Concern about government restrictions on the free choice of providers
was one of the major reasons for the defeat of the Clinton health care
plan.
Two Libertarian Party candidates will discuss their
proposals for health care in a joint press conference, Wednesday, October
7, 10:15 AM at the Tannersville Inn, Route 611, Tannersville.
Gail Mastroberte, RN, State Representative candidate for the 189th
District - Monroe County will be joined by Jack Iannantuono for United
States Senate for Pennsylvania.
The joint press conference will be centered on free
market solutions as an alternative to government intervention into the
health care market.
Jack Iannantuono is a Certified Financial Planner
(CFP), and a partner in and treasurer of Indicon, Inc., an Allentown
firm specializing in pension and employee benefit planning for business
firms in Pennsylvania. Jack has also earned both the insurance industry's
Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU)
designations.
Jack earned his Master of Science in Financial Services
degree from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, in 1993. A
1971 cum laude graduate of Moravian College in Bethlehem, Jack earned academic
honors in a double major of government and history.
He is also both a past president of the Moravian
College Alumni Association, and a past chairman of the Moravian College
Business and Industry Committee. He resides in Lowhill Township (Schnecksville),
Lehigh County. A native of New Jersey, Jack is a 1967 graduate of
Union Hill High School, Union City, New Jersey.
Gail (Kovalycsik) Mastroberte was born in Garfield,
New Jersey in 1951 where she lived most of her life. The family came
to Pennsylvania in 1986, and now lives in East Stroudsburg, (Pocono Township).
Both their children are home educated.
Mastroberte had an interest in the medical field
at a young age and after high school graduation in 1969, began her career
as a dental assistant, and later as an operating room assistant with oral
surgeons. A later graduated from Englewood Nursing School in 1982,
she served in the medical profession in various capacities over the years,
including labor and delivery and nursing home care. She has been
a CNA trainer at the Monroe County Vocational School in Bartonsville, and
currently is a nursing supervisor at Pleasant Valley Manor, Syndersville.
"We will explain from a libertarian perspective
the current state of health care in the United States, and the ways government
on all levels needs to retract their stranglehold on the system," said
Gail Mastroberte. "There are specific things that must be done on
a federal level that Jack will outline, and what State initatives must
be enacted to maximize our choices as consumers."
Mastroberte welcomed Iannantuano's participation
in the area press conference saying, "as a financial planner, he understands
facts, figures, and most of all, preparing individuals for their
future. We also invite members of the public to attend."
Iannantuono's first visit to Monroe County will
include meeting with key Libertarian activists in the area to discuss his
upcoming televised debates, including one on October 25 at Wilkes University,
Wilkes-Barre, of which he hopes they will attend.
The Libertarian Party is Pennsylvania's largest
third party. According to party headquarters, they have doubled the number
of registered Libertarians every 18 months. There are now 42 elected
and/or appointed office-holders. 22 individuals are seeking
political office throughout the
Commonwealth in the November 3rd General election.
