I would like show you some photos which have been in my family since the 1870s. These photos of the Pink and White Terraces at Mount Tarawera, near Rotorua, North Island New Zealand, were taken by my great great Aunt Fanny Peddle during a tour of the area. These unique freaks of nature were destroyed by a volcanic eruption on the 10th June 1886, at 3:00 am to be precise. I have a more detailed map of the area that will show Mount Tarawera, Lake Tarawera and Lake Rotomahana where these beautiful Pink and White Terraces once existed.
