The episode starts out with Ash battling another trainer. Ash uses Bulbasaur and the other guy uses Rhyhorn. Rhyhorn tackles Bulbasaur and gave him a lump on the head. Ash was gonna call out a different Pokémon but Bulbasaur wanted to fight so Ash let him fight. Bulbasaur amazingly wins the battle. Ash and his friends then find out something’s wrong with Bulbasaur. They take him to the Pokémon Center. Nurse Joy runs a few tests and tells Ash that Bulbasaur is evolving. She tells Ash and his friends about how every year at a certain time, a lot of Bulbasaurs gather and go to the secrete garden and evolve. No one has ever seen the garden before. Late at night when everyone was asleep, Bulbasaur walks outside and Pikachu follows. They start talking and then a lot of Bulbasaurs come and grabs Ash Bulbasaur and run away. Pikachu couldn’t do anything cause there were too many Bulbasuars and they kept hitting him with their Vines. Pikachu runs back to the Pokémon Center and wakes up Ash and his friends. They chase after the Bulbasuars. They find their way to the secrete garden and see a whole bunch of Bulbasaurs. Ash and his friends keep a far distance away cause they weren’t supposed to be there. The Bulbasaurs start to chanting their name, since that’s all they can say, to a tree in the middle of the garden. Ash’s Bulbasaur is the only one not chanting. (By now you get the feeling that Ash’s Bulbasaur doesn’t want to evolve). They start to hear loud footsteps coming from the tree. An Venusaur comes out of the tree and they all start chanting their names again. Slowly each Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur. All the Bulbasaurs evolve except for Ash’s Bulbasaur. Now all the Ivysaurs and the Venusaur are mad cause Ash’s Bulbasaur won’t evolve. Venusaur attacks Bulbasaur with Vine Whip but Ash Jumps in the way a gets hit. Ash starts to explain why Bulbasaur doesn’t want to evolve. Team Rocket appears in a hot air balloon. Team Rocket uses a powerful vacuum and sucks up the Ivysaurs but the Venusaur holds on to some of the Ivysaur. The vacuum can’t suck up Venusaur cause it’s too heavy. Bulbasaur then gets mad and uses his special attack to stop Team Rocket. Bulbasaur used Solar Beam. The Beam broke the vacuum bag and set free all the Ivysaur and at the same time hits Team Rocket really hard and sends them flying away. Ash explains some more why Bulbasaur doesn’t want to evolve. He said that Bulbasaur wants to evolve when he want’s too. The Venusaur and the Ivysaur now understand and they leave Bulbasaur alone. Ash and his friends leave and the Mysterious Garden disappear.
