JAVA TEXT SEARCH
The following is a java-based applet that will search the text on any of the pages of this site for words that you enter (so, if you don't have a Java-enabled browser...sorry).
To use this search engine, enter the word or phrase that you are looking for, and hit 'search'.
Other tips on searching:
- The results list the title of the page, and the text surrounding your search input.
- The results appear once for each occurrence of your search input, but it is sorted by page.
- Once the list appears, double-clicking on a line will take you to that page (but not directly to the text, so it doesn't matter which page result you click).
- If searching for a name, omit titles like 'king', 'chief', etc.
- As far as the search engine is concerned, there is only one 'e', one 'o'
- ...but words with 'the second s' will be found either way (just 's' or 'sh').
- If you can't find something, try using fewer words.
- For some words, you will want to check the 'whole word match' option.
- If entering a number or year, search for that without any other words or numbers.
