Even Now

Even now I sit here

Still trying to understand ...

The suffering of so many

The simple mortal man.

I try to make some sense of it

I Look for reasons for their pain ...

To justify inside my mind

How they are to blame.

Did they do something so terrible

That this punishment fits their sin ...

That they must sacrifice themselves

To suffer this fatal end.

I look to the heavens for answers

I crawl through the bowels of hell ...

But still I find no answers

Of why this good man fell.

I prayed to God in heaven

I cursed the devil in hell ...

I begged and bargained and pleaded

Offering my soul to sell.

No, I will never Understand

Why the good must die so young...

To walk this earth and suffer

In a battle that can't be won.

Tonight my spirit is angry

My heart is broke in two...

That a good man must suffer

And there is nothing I can do.
