TEARS FOR A CHILD
June Marie Johnson
Gut wrenching emptiness, takes hold with icy,
grasping fingers,
'Why's' and if only's swim in a
cataclysmic
swirling of the mind, no answers, no logical
reasoning, is anywhere to find.
Only the howl of indescribable pain, screams
out from inside, as a mother tries to claw
back, the life of her child, that has just died.
As she kneels down on the roadway, holding
lifelessness to her breast, never, from that
time on, will she experience again, joy, peace
and rest.
