My  Peculiar  Pets

I love animals, I have a dog and cat
When we go for a walk, they both love that.
They take little side trips, as I mosey along
They seem to be happy and I hum a song.

Something happened a little while back
A sale on pet food, I bought each a big sack.
I put the bags together and thought with a smile
No worries about pet food, it should last them awhile.

But as time went by I noticed a change
Both of my pets were acting very strange.
Oh, just little things, that I began to see
The cat chased a car and the dog climbed a tree.

I checked on their food and to my dismay
The bags were switched, who put them that way?
Their actions have changed, no doubt about that
One thinks it's a cog and the other a dat.

To be back like they were, I prayed to God
But so far they are still acting odd.
Why can't they eat the same food, like horses and cows?
Now my cat barks and the poor dog meows!
