Memory Of A Child

Memory Of A Child

Kenneth  Harrington

I Remember Oh so Clear

How My Momma Held me Near

As We walked a Long Dark Road

Toward the Church

The Message that was Preached

Was of - The Old Rugged Cross

And How Jesus Loved Us All

And Died for Me.

As We set there Hand and Hand

I Looked in Momma's Eyes

She looked down at me and Began to cry

I asked Her what was Wrong

She Replied - It's Just the Song

But I  Think

She was truly Sorry

For All the things

That She'd Done Wrong.

When the Preacher Called for Prayers

We Rose Up from Our Chairs

We Walked up to the Front and took a Knee.

Momma Crying as She Prayed

On Her Lap where My Head Laid

I Felt Her Teardrops Upon My Face
