Jesse Bland vs Jane A. Bland

The plaintiff complains of the defendant, and says that said parties intermarried on the 30 October 1860. Since which time said plaintiff has been a bonafied resident of said county.
That on or about the 15th. day of October 1865, said defendant abandened the plaintiff with the intention of never returning to live with him, and the said abandonment was done without any just cause, and a reconciliation between said parties is improbable.
That on the 15th. day of March 1866, said defendant had illicit carnal intercource with Hiram Bland at the residence of David Shafer in Richland Township in said county.
That on the 15th. day of December 1865 said defentant had illicit carnal intercourse with Eli Bland at the residence of Mordica Bays in Center Township in said county.
Where for the plantiff asks that defendant by required to answer this complaint under oath, and at the final hearing of this court, that the bans of matrimony non existing between said parties be dissolved.

Jesse Bland's Obituary
Birth: Jan. 2, 1843 - - - Death: Oct. 21, 1912

Jesse BLAND, son of Warren and Cynthia BLAND, was born in Richland Township, Greene County, Indiana, January 2, 1843, and died at his home at Tulip, Greene County, October 21, 1912, aged 69 years, 9 months and 19 days. He had four brothers, but only one survives him, Warren BLAND, of Richland Township. Before the Civil War he was married to Jane SLEETH, and to them were born three children, who survive him. They are Mrs. Cynthia SERBER, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Mrs. Eliza SHIELDS, Clay City, and Henry Allen, of Tulip. His second marriage was to Sarah BAYS, June 1866. They were the parents of seven children. A married daughter preceded him to the grave. The living children are Robert, Allen, George, of Tulip, Mrs. Lucinda SPARKS, Tulip, Mrs. Minnie MOORELAND, Shelburn, Indiana, and Mrs. Sitha MCCREERY, Barton, Illinois. His wife and twelve grandchildren also survive him. He was a solder in the Civil War, being a member of COMPANY I, 146TH REGIMENT, and was faithful in fighting for the flag of his country. He was in service three years. He belongs to the G. A. R. (The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army who had served in the American Civil War.) He joined the Methodist church thirty-five years ago, and was faithful till his death. He was only sick five days, and in nearing the end of his earthly life he expressed to his loved ones the utmost confidence as to the hope of eternal life. The funeral was preached by Elder J. A. SPENCER, minister of the Bloomfield Christian Church, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the late residence and his remains were buried in the Tulip Cemetery.
