Special Admissions Corner

Special Admissions is a program that allows high school students to attend classes at Bucks. It is divided into three categories: Special Admissions, High School Enrichment and Early Admissions. For guidelines on the programs, please see below.

  • The Special Admissions Program allows select Bucks County high school juniors and seniors to enroll in one evening course per semester at the College. The program provides students the opportunity to enrich their full-time high school education with a college course. Criteria for acceptance in the program include an updated transcript showing no final grade in high school below a "C", assessment testing and written approval from the high school.

  • The High School Enrichment portion of the Special Admissions program allows high school students to enroll part-time during the day. This program expands educational opportunities and allows college credits to be earned before high school graduation. Criteria for acceptance into the program includes class rank in the top 40%, an updated transcript showing no final grade in high school below a "C", assessment testing and written approval from the high school.

  • The Early Admissions Program option of the Special Admissions program enables select high school seniors to attend the College on a full-time basis. The College recognizes that certain high school students may benefit from beginning college study earlier than the traditional college entry date.
Criteria for acceptance in the program include class rank in the top 20%, an updated transcript showing no final grade in high school below a "C", assessment testing and written approval from the high school.

Interested in Completing 30 College Credits to be Eligible for a Commonwealth Diploma?

The Commonwealth Secondary Diploma will be issued to successful Pennsylvania residents who are 18 years of age or older. Candidates who are under age 18, and who qualify for the diploma under the provision above will be issued a letter attesting to the successful completion of the examinations and stating that the diploma will be issued after the candidate reaches age 18. The Department will not ordinarily issue the diploma until the last class of membership has graduated. This restriction may be waived by the Department upon recommendation of the Local School District. The Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma will be issued to applicants who have completed one year (30 semester hours) of college work. A college transcript certifying successful college work in an approved four- year college or in an approved community or junior college must accompany the application form. Homeschoolers - The Alternative Option
Simultaneous high school at home and enrollment in community college classes - often, subject credits can be used for high school requirements and as established credits upon college entry. In fact, many homeschooled teens earn enough college credits prior to full-time attendance that questions about a high school diploma become moot points. College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Tests - Almost 3,000 colleges award three to twelve credits when students pass any of the thirty-four subject-specific CLEP tests prior to college entrance. Advanced Placement (AP) Tests - AP exams exist to see if a high school student can handle college-level work. A qualifying grade in any of the more than two dozen subject areas gain credit or advanced placement at thousands of colleges and universities. Both CLEP and AP tests save time and money. (Note: Since not all schools honor CLEP and AP, consult with admissions counselors as to their schools' policies.) Click here to find out more on this option!
