Just in...Pittsburgh Penguins have resigned forwards Konstantin Koltsov, Guillaume Lefebvre, Matt Murley, Matt Hussey, Colby Armstrong, and defensemen Robert Scuderi and Josef Melichar.
Also of note, John Leclair can keep his home in Pennsylvania as he has just signed on for 2yrs. He will most likely be paired up with ex-flyers linemate Mark Recchi. Ryan Malone has played centre at various occasions in his rookie year and in college and is expected to centre that line, the Pittsburgh Legion of Doom. The team has also picked up UFA defenseman Steve Poapst (D; Chicago blackhawks), Poapst will be fighting for the 6th or 7th spot with Robert Scuderi.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are itching to get back on the ice. After a year of absence, the team went from being a joke to having the most brightest future in the NHL. With the draft of Sidney Crosby, the Penguins now have three franchise players in the system with Evgeni Malkin (unable to return from Russia), Sidney Crosby, and Marc-Andre Fleury. The outstanding first year by Ryan Malone and the break out of Milan Kraft make this team a very promising and exciting team.
Oh did i forget to mention the fact that the team has reeled in UFA players Sergei Gonchar (D; Boston Bruins), Andre Roy (F; Tampa Bay Lightning), and Zigmund Palffy (F; Los Angeles Kings). The high profile signings of Palffy and Gonchar will directly benefit the team, with a veteran core of Lemieux, Recchi (signed in 2004 offseason), Palffy, and Gonchar.
