Afeni
Shakur vs. Death Row Records
Immediatly following tupac's death,
his mother filed two seperate suits
against Death Row. One was concerning
the rights to 'Pac's image, and the
second was concerning his unreleased
material, which Death Row had claimed
as it's own. These two suits were won
by the estate, and Death Row quickly
filed a countersuit alleging that
Tupac owed them $7.1 million for
"expense" while with the
company. Afeni quickly filed yet
another counter suit, accusing Death
Row of of stealing over $50 million
from Tupac in order to support the
lavish lifestyles of Death Row's CEOs.
Bad Azz vs. Death Row Records
Bad Azz filed suit against Death row
immediatly after 'Pac's death for
apparently not receving payment and
royalties for his part in "Krazy."
C. Delores Tucker vs. The Estate
Here's a funny one. After the constant
struggle between Tupac and Tucker
during the last couple of years of his
life, this bitch files suit against
the estate claiming that comments
Tupac made in"Wonda Why They Call
U Bitch" affected her sex life.
She labeled Tupac's life's work "pornagraphic
smut." This foolish case is still
pending.
Jacqueline McNealey vs. The
Estate
Although I feel strongly for this
woman, I see this case as being quite
foolish as well. She was hit by a
stray bullet at a 1993 Tupac concert,
and paralyzed from the neck down. Her
$16.6 million dollar suit claimed that
Tupac incited the crowd to violence.
Unbelievably, she was still able to
settle for $2 million.
The Whitwells vs. The Estate
Back in 1993, two off duty police
officers accused Tupac of shooting
them in the buttocks while they fled.
It later came out in criminal court
that the officers were at fault for
starting the incident, were
intoxicated at the time, and had
threatened Tupac with a gun stolen
from the HQ evidence locker. One
officer settled out of court for
$210,000 while the other dropped his
suit.
WilliamGarland vs. The Estate
This suit was filed by Tupac's
biological father, claiming he had
rights to 50% of his estate. Bullshit.
In my eyes, this is the worst case of
them all. Tupac had only met his
father in 1995, after spending his
earlier years believing that Garland
was dead. Shockingly enough, Garland
was able to settle for $540,000 and
almost $350,000 in legal expenses.
Johnny Jvs. Death Row Records
Johnny J filed suit only 2 years ago,
claiming that he had completed
extensive work on many of the tracks
on "All Eyez On Me," and
never recieved his advance of $100,000
or his 3% royalties.
R & S Antiques vs. The
Estate
This company claimed that Tupac owed
them $93,000 for two pieces of
jewelery that he had purchased from
them. They seek this amount, plus
interest.
Orlando Anderson vs. The Estate
Anderson filed this suit before his
death in 1997, and it will continue.
He seeks restitution for his beating
by Tupac and others on the night of
Tupac's death. This is possibly the
man who was responsible for 'Pac's
death. Fuck him, and may he rest in
hell if he is indeed responsible.
AfeniShakur vs. The Estate
Afeni counter sued Anderson for what
she believed was his role in th edeath
of her son. In the words of her
attorney, Richard Fishbein, "The
Las Vegas police have about as much
interest in solving this case as the
man on the moon...I believe I cannot
do any worse then they have."
