DEFINITIONS
- Information Technology- The use of hardware, software, services, and supporting infastructure to manage and deliver information using voice, data and video.
- Personal Computers- A computer designed for use by one person at a time. The term
- Needs Assessment- A method or process used to determine if a need exists for a given program or service.
- Operating System- Anything that another program requires to run.
- High Level Language versus Machine language- Machine language uses binary coded instructions and High level Language uses instructions called statements, that closely resemble human language or standard notation of mathematics.
- Graphic User Interface(GUI)- This is a part of a program that connects the computer with a human operator(user).
- Computer Network- This is a set of computers that are connected and able to exchange data.
- WWW versus Internet- The internet is a massive network of networks and the World Wide Web(WWW) is a way of accessing information over the medium of the internet.
- TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet protocol- These are protocols, or conventions, that computers use to communicate over the internet.
- Ethernet/Fast Ethernet- The Ethernet is a very common methd of networking computers in a LAN using copper cabling. Fast Ethernet is a faster version running on 100Mbps.
- Bandwidths and Speed- The bandwidth is the range of frequencies that can pass over a given data transmission channel within a frame relay network. and speed is the distance traveled per unit of time.
- ISPs(Internet Service Providers)- An isp is a company that provides access to the internet.

- AVIs(Adio Video Interleaved)- An AVI is a sound and motion picture file that conforms to the Microsoft Windows Resource Interchange File Format(RIFF) specification.

- C++- This is an object-oriented programming language based on C language.
- Batch Files- These are programs thast allow MS-DOS and Windows users to create a file perform long tasks fast.
- Object Orientd Programming(OOP)- This is programming paradigm beyond and including data abstraction facilities.
- Browser- This is a client software program used for searching and viewing various kinds of internet resources such as information on a web site.
- HTML(Hypertext Markup Language)- This is the coded format language used for creating hypertext documentson the World Wide Web and controlling how Web pages appear.
- Static Web Page- These are on your site that send exactly the same response to every request
