Gospel Tracts are one of the most powerful witnessing tools that any Christian has at his or her disposal. Tracts have been likened to "little preachers" who neither change that which they have to say or argue after they have said it. Early in my walk with the Lord I wanted more desperately than anything else in life to "tell others" what I had found through the saving grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus. I spoke to every one that would present themselves as a listening target and to augment that which I had witnessed to them I would leave them with a tract. One rainy day while walking through the yard of a Catholic church (of all places!), I found a small Gospel tract, wet and somewhat covered with mud. I picked it up and carefully opened it to read its half-drenched message... "Religion is not the way! The preacher or priest is not the way! Water baptism is not the way! Church membership is not the way! Being a good person is not the way! Having good works is not the way!"
WOW!, I thought to myself as I read and could hardly believe my eyes. This is actually what I had been so desperately trying to convey to people and here it was in tract format and it even had a Sinner's Prayer on the back of it. I was elated! I took the little tract home, washed it off and let it dry. "THE ONLY DOORWAY" it proudly proclaimed on its cover. Later, after I had ordered "several" of them, I called the head of the ministry that published the tract, Pastor Pennigton, and told him about how I had used this tract, not only to lead many at that point, to the Lord but what a blessing it had been that someone was able to publish these truths which are the basis for Satan's deceptions he levies toward man. Pastor Pennington not only agreed but said that this particular tract was (his word), "Anointed" and how it came about under "mysterious circumstances". It seems that a young man came into his office one day, left the manuscript on his desk and then was never seen again. "Disappeared", I wondered to myself with a slight grin on my face. I listened as he went on to tell me more and more about this particular tract all, just as its conception, equally intriguing.
But just how powerful is this tract? That only you can be the judge of. But to the glory of God and only through the power of God the Holy Spirit, I have lead many to the Lord using only this tract. As a witness to it's destructiveness in dispelling the major lies of the enemy, I have found this particular tract, after leaving it in public areas of one of the nation's larger cities: torn-up, shredded, and once even torn into small pieces and then burnt! But that which I witness of the former, the power of God, certainly overrides the ladder.
But why don't more people professing to be Christians use Gospel tracts as part of witnessing salvation to others, I have often asked myself. Why can't they, even after they tell me they are a "Christian", even accept the tract that I've given them to pass it along to someone else?
My brethren, if you're reading this message, please tell others about the saving grace of our Lord and how they can themselves be saved. Don't keep it a secret as though you belong to some kind of elite club and "you're the best, the Hell with the rest." Because that's exactly where they might end up if you don't at least "give them" something that witnesses the word of God and their means of salvation through His Son Christ Jesus. PLEASE tell them about your Best Friend...even if it's only through using a tract.
Most Gospel tracts are relatively inexpensive or in some cases, free of charge. My oldest son once asked me, "Dad, why do you call tracts, Landmines?" and I answered him with the following; "Just as a landmine, a Gospel tract that has been read is activated and eventually it will blow up in Satan's face. God's holy word, once read, will never leave the one who reads it -- We have God's word on it!"
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
it shall not return unto me void..."
