Cambria County EMD Response Levels
ALPHA Response = BLS - Closest basic life
support transport unit - COLD
Basic EMT's are educated to handle
anything that appears in this category.
BRAVO Response = BLS - Closest basic life
support unit - HOT , occasionally cold.
Something about this response merits
a rapid response, but the entire system does not need to be mobilized.
BRAVO Level calls may result in occasionally upgrading to advanced life support
based on scene findings. BLS care can be administered until ALS crew's arrival.
CHARLIE Response = ALS - Closest advanced life
support unit - HOT , occasionally cold, basic life support transport Cold.
The callers interview has identified
the need for advanced life support providers. Also the need for patient
transport is likely, so the basic life support crews will take a few minutes to
evaluate and treat the patient at the scene.
DELTA Response = ALS - Maximal response, both
basic and advanced life support providers.
While advanced life support providers
would always go HOT, the basic life support transport unit may respond Hot to
cases of critical trauma where rapid transport is essential, or they may respond
Cold when a medical patient will be worked for 20 to 30 minutes at the
scene. There will always be situations that warrant having every
appropriate responder travel Hot to the scene.
ECHO Response = ALS - Closest apparatus of any
kind, HOT, ALS Responders Hot.
The situation warrants the nearest
resource to respond immediately to aid patients who are dying right now.
OMEGA Response = BLS - Effectively handled by
non traditional response means.
Someone who has fallen and need aid
returning to their resting position is an example.
