ICPA 2003 Annual Meeting

Please join us for an afternoon of traditional Chinese music followed by a lecture on Chinese painting.

  • October 25 (Saturday), 2003 from 2PM to 4PM in DeBoest Hall, on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
  • There will be a business meeting from 1-2 PM in the same location
  • For those members who have not yet paid, membership dues will be collected at the door.
  • Please consider an additional voluntary donation to help defray the cost of today's event.
Traditional Chinese Music
  • Bamboo flutist Miao Yimin is the founder of the New York Ba Ban Chinese Music Society and the director of the New York Bamboo and Silk Ensemble. He is a former flutist with the internationally acclaimed Shanghai Traditional Orchestra in China with whom he has soloed all over the world.
  • A graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, award-winning Pipa-ist Zhou Yi has given numerous concerts in the United States. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York as well as New York, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale universities. She has also performed for the Lincoln Center Festival and the Spoleto Festival USA. Traditional Chinese Painting

    Following the performance, there will be a lecture on Chinese painting given by Dr. Jim Robinson, Chief Curator of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, whose specialty is Chinese painting. The talk will be followed by a tour of the Museum's collection. What makes this special is that this is the last time the collection will be viewed before the museum is closed for the major renovation project that is already in progress.

    Notes: There will be a business meeting beginning at 1PM. For those members who have not yet paid their dues; dues will be collected at this meeting.
