Because They Don't Have Later

Progeria is a fatal genetic condition characterized by an appearance of accelerated aging in children. Its name is derived from the Greek and means "prematurely old." Progeria is a rare condition that only affects about 1 in 4 - 8 million newborns. It is not something that is passed down from the parents, and it is not something anyone can catch by being around a person who has Progeria. Children who have Progeria do not usually display any signs of aging until they are around 18-24 months of age. The signs of Progeria include growth failure, loss of body fat and hair, aged-looking skin, stiffness of joints, hip dislocation, heart disease and stroke, and despite different ethnic backgrounds, the children have a remarkably similar appearance. Children who have Progeria usually die of atherosclerosis, heart disease, at an average age of thirteen years, but they are known to live anywhere from 8 - 21 years of age. In the past 15 years, cases of Progeria have been reported all over the world. -The Progeria Research Foundation (PRF)
