The vision of Players Edge is to produce Team Canada level players for years to come. Our mission statement is to provide cutting edge development methods, with the individual athlete in mind. That being said, our staff are always on the lookout for ways to shorten the long learning curve of high performance tennis.
The players' attitude is the most important element. This is what will make
the learning curve shorten, and success come quicker. We provide exposure
to the latest in teaching and training methods, as well as guidance in
creating your competitive schedule.
The Player's Edge has a no nonsense, disciplined approach, and uses the
latest knowledge from the world of sport science. A low player to coach
ratio, plus an optimal balance of volume drilling, situation drilling,
tactical training and competition ensure progressive development for our
athletes.
Objectives for the 2004-2005 season are:
- Create a high level of motivation among the students.
- Keep coaches positive, enthusiastic and creative.
- Improve retention of learning through high quality instruction.
- Make better players of our athletes.
Strategies to achieve our objectives are:
- Have a variety of drills, but stay longer with a theme to be sure there is fun and repetition.
- More coach regroupings and on-court discussion.
- Understanding our individual athletes better, and adjusting our teaching to suit.
- Provide competitive drills and tactical situation training constantly.
