Background
Players Edge Tennis Program was created in August of 2001 by former ACE Academy coaches Marc Assaraf and Bill Cowan. They took over the former ACE site at the National Tennis Center at York University, and added top coach Dean Coburn to their team. Together they have strived for excellence in the development of Canadian Tennis in a program, which holistically combines psychological, physical, and technical components, in a game based environment.

Since its inception, Players Edge has been running a Tennis Canada designated Tennis Development Centre (TDC), which has achieved Bronze status in the previous two years. This designation has given Players Edge the privilege of being one of the top 20 TDC¹s across Canada, and receiving generous assistance from Tennis Canada. Some of the benefits have included: visits by the Head National Coach, funding, monthly mailings and equipment.

Marc, Bill and Dean have brought their complimentary styles together to form a disciplined, fun, and competitive environment which will sharpen the edge of any level of player. Up to Summer 2004, the centre was located at the National Tennis Centre at York University, where the Rogers AT&T Cup and the Men's Tennis Masters Series events had been played.

Summer 2004 brings The Rexall Centre; a new and exciting venue where future champions will be created. Players Edge will be moving to the Rexall Centre in September 2004. Like the previous site, the Rexall Centre is in close proximity to the homes and schools of our students. It is felt that the new Rexall Centre will be the springboard which will launch the Players Edge towards another level in tennis development.

Players Edge wanted to create an environment where hard work and discipline are not the exception, but the rule, and provide the players with the most modern and comprehensive coaching available.

The National level programme is geared toward juniors who have a national ranking, or who will potentially have one the next ranking year.

The Tournament level programme is for the 10-16 year old bracket who are competing in the OTA junior events on a consistent basis.

The Skills level programme is for the 8-14 year old bracket who wish to develop their technical, tactical, and coordination skills while having fun doing it.

Fitness is an integral part of the training regime. The National and Tournament groups participate in a very intensive, on-court fitness program led by Marc daily from 4:30 - 5:00.

The highly qualified coache and personal attention ensure a quality learning experience will be had at Player's Edge.
