*********************   A FEW FACTS ABOUT PAUL   ***********************

Paul was born on July 2, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama. His homegoing was Aug 17, 1973 in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of nine children, the oldest member of the Classic 5 and the second oldest of ALL the guys that ever were Temptations.

Paul loved singing and dancing and he played the guitar and bass, as well as some piano. He loved jokes and playing jokes on others. He was a football player in school. His favorite colors were green and white.

He left Birmingham at 17 and sang under at least four other group names before the name Temptations became permanent. The other names were The Cavaliers, The Primes, The Pirates, and The Elgins.
He became lead singer and choreographer for the Temptations and sang on their first Top 40 hit, "Dream Come True", which was lead by his best friend, Eddie Kendricks in 1962. Then in 1963 they gained more exposure with my personal favorite, "I Want A Love I Can See", this time with Paul on lead. The following year of 1964, they were touring with the popular song, "The Way You Do The Things You Do" and showcasing Paul's excellent choreography.

It was also Paul's job to assess fines on anyone who made mistakes while on stage. He liked the routines that he had developed for the group to be performed as smoothly and skillfully as possible. And his concern that the group always be at their best led his fellow group members to consider him to be the "Heart and Soul" of the group.

At 6 feet / 1 inch tall and weighing 165 pounds, the handsome baritone singer was nicknamed "Poopie" by the group. He was a fun-loving family man who had 6 children - 3 girls and 3 boys. He and his wife were separated but considering reconciliation at the time of his death.
