| Paul was born on July 2, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama. His homegoing was Aug 17, 1973 in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of nine children, the oldest member of the Classic 5 and the second oldest of ALL the guys that ever were Temptations. Paul loved singing and dancing and he played the guitar and bass, as well as some piano. He loved jokes and playing jokes on others. He was a football player in school. His favorite colors were green and white. He left Birmingham at 17 and sang under at least four other group names before the name Temptations became permanent. The other names were The Cavaliers, The Primes, The Pirates, and The Elgins. |

It was also Paul's job to assess fines on anyone who made mistakes while on stage. He liked the routines that he had developed for the group to be performed as smoothly and skillfully as possible. And his concern that the group always be at their best led his fellow group members to consider him to be the "Heart and Soul" of the group. |
