Meeting Minutes
JANUARY 20, 2004
Principals Report: Lisa McNamara will be covering while Mr. C is recovering.
Both buildings have been running smoothly.
Ms. McNamara also reported the district is upgrading their safety procedure
policies with all teachers and staff. Safety committee’s have also
been set up. The committees are currently addressing issues on how to handle
if an intruder is in the building and students are in the building and also
outside of the building.
February 13th will be a snow make up day and May 7th.
Earth Day will schedule for May 4th and May 6th. Volunteers will be needed
to help plant flowers.
Old Business: The Multi Cultural Chinese Acrobat Show was a success.
The next assembly will be scheduled for February 10th: The Early American
Folklore Story telling by Bill Wood.
The Elves Workshop was a success and raised a profit of almost $2,000.
The teachers and staff thanked the PTO for their generous donations over
the holidays to their classrooms.
New Business:
Fundraising:
February 2nd through February 18TH we will be sponsoring a Wolfgang
Candy Sale. March 22nd will be the pick up date @ the OPLC between 4pm and
7pm.
School Spirit:
We will be offering school spirit items at the spring fair this year and
we may also send a flyer home to take orders. This is done every two years
and we are on schedule to do again this spring.
Family Programs:
Family Night Bingo is scheduled to be held in March. No date has been set
as of yet.
Spring Fair:
The annual Spring Fair will be held Friday May 21st. The PTO is looking
into having space “rentals” for local crafters to set up a display/table.
Vendors will need to get approval through the PTO.
** Teachers in the OPLC and OES will be making gift baskets to be auctioned
off during the spring fair! We look forward to all of the great and imaginative
baskets!
Student Emergency Phone Numbers:
If you have moved or had a change of any personal information please notify
the school district. It is extremely important to keep your child’s information
up to date. Phone numbers are very important to keep up to date in case you
need to be notified during the day in regards to your child.
McDonalds Night:
We should have a date set for our McDonalds night at the next meeting. Cindy
Franchitti is working closely with the local McDonalds.
Parent Programs:
Maggie Feld is looking into having an adult CPR training class this
spring.
Maggie will also be sending out sign up forms towards the end of February/beginning
of March for parents to sign up for a class to explain your childs Terra
Nova and PSSA testing. This meeting will be held prior to the testing. The
Terra Nova test is for 2nd and 4th graders. PSSA testing is for 3rd, 5th,
6th and 8th graders.
** 1st and 2nd graders will be holding assessments on testing 02/05/04.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday February 17th at 7:00pm.
