Spring Fair

Although the weather resembled a chilly, rainy November day, it was spring in the OPLC gym on Friday, May 16, 2003. The weather didn’t deter the parents and children who came to enjoy the Spring Fair from having a good time. There were plenty of games, prizes and food for those who attended. The children enjoyed games such as the cake walk, ping pong pitch, football throw, buried treasure and many others. There were also stands for face painting, tattoos, nail polish, bag decorating, and beaded necklaces. A favorite of the parents were the many baskets that were donated to be raffled. The most popular basket was the Game Basket, donated by the 2nd grade staff, with 170 tickets placed in that can.

Both the Parkesburg Fire Company and Chester County 911 were in attendance. The children had the opportunity to look at fire trucks provided by Parkesburg.

There were also two special guests in attendance at the fair. Chipper, from Herr’s and McGruff were on hand to mingle with the children.

Parents and children alike enjoyed chicken and hot dogs provided by Nick’s Chicks.

Special thanks to the Spring Fair Committee (Debbie Jones, Maureen Byerly, Linda Haslett and Cristin Cumberland ) for arranging a wonderful evening and to all the volunteers who worked that night. Without all of you, the spring fair would not have been possible.

The PTO has the following
urgent need for chair people for 2003—2004: Fundraising, Parent Programs, and a liason to the Student Programs committee.

We will also need people to chair the Welcome Back Breakfast, Childcare, Publishing Center, Book Fair, Spring Fair, Music Aides, Elves Workshop, Field Day, Earth Day, Hospitality, Office Assistants, and Teacher Appreciation Lunch. Other chair and volunteer opportunities will occur throughout the year.

Please consider chairing one of these committees (maybe with a friend or two!).

The Volunteer Form will be on the website (www.oespto.org) this summer, so if you are so inclined, you will be able to volunteer before school starts next year.

The next PTO meeting will be held on Tues., September 16, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. in the OES Library.
