A TALE OF A TWENTY CENTURY FRIAR, LIVING A LIFE TRUMPED BY AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT

I came to be aware that I would be undergoing a heart valve replacement. And so, it gave me ample time to lose myself into Grisham's tale of a lawyer of a prestigious law firm engulfed in millions of dollars and who, after some harrowing experiences,became a poverty-stricken street lawyer who worked wth the poor and the abandoned by society. Grisham's grand tale is, for the most part, a journey from extreme wealth to rags and poverty while remaining a lawyer. Having lived through the depression of the thirties and living on stale bread and water, I spent my youth in traipsing the woods of Tobyhanna Pennsylvania, with my mother, while living in chicken coops and old barns to earn the penny . I valued as a treasure, while picking huckleberries for five cents a quart. My father, Tony, an anthracite coal miner who worked for the Moffat Coal Company had lost his job. Though penniless and on the border of losing our house in Dickson City,Pennsylvania, suburb of Scranton. I had very good friends whose friendship I cherished and who were my life blood. Now, I am perusing through a novel by Grisham with plenty of substance and a great narrative style! (TO BE CONTINUED)

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, O God, and know our hearts today; cleanse ius from every sin and set us free.
Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of Your
to openly ask these things in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen."

Wreight is pastor, logged more that 5,000 phone calls, more than any other he has ever aired. With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called, "one nation under God."

HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS AND THE DIVINE

True reverence is learned by becoming aware of a consciousness greater than our own.

In moments when you have become aware of a higher other consciousness, you can easily

imagine that the response to it might be fear. It is part of the human condition that an element

of fear is transcended because we know that to open our heart to this greater consciousness

is to know simultaneously that it knows us and its knowledge is love.

Our self-knowledge is humbling because God's presence teaches us that He loves and

knows us more deeply than a human consciousness can love or know itself. The opening

of consciousness to God is both knowledge of God and of ourselves. We can do it because

we have been empowered to do it through the consciousness of Jesus. His consciousness is

so totally open to the Father that it is one with him, and when in silence we know his human

consciousness dwelling in ours, we are awakened by his love.
