Mandi is a 15 year old who was born with ABS in 1987. ABS affected her hands. She is missing her 4th and 5th finger on the right hand and on the left, her thumb and pointer are stunted. She has gonna through numerous surgeries in her life to release the constrictions around her fingers. Because of ABS she has also had to have carpel tunnel surgery on both hands. Throughout her life she has struggled emotionally to be accepted by others. I have watched her sit out when none of the other kids wanted to hold her hand. Now at the age of 15 she has learned how to use her hands like anyone else. She is an avid basketball player, cheerleader, dancer and softball player. She succeeds in everything she does. She has a sister who looks up to her very much. I hope and pray every day that Mandi knows how special and important she is to the people who she shines on. Now Mandi is looking for a doctor who can try to make some fingers for her so her hands will look a little more normal for her. I know we are in for another long battle but I support her decision totally and I will stand by her no matter what choices she makes in life. I love her very much.
