We at Last Chance Acres specialize in senior and special needs horses and ponies. We have been approved by our local Humane Society. We have the space to have up to 8 horses and ponies but currently have 5. First is an 8 year old reg. American Saddlebred gelding who we rescued from the kill pen. When he came home he had to have his left eye removed and his jaw was broken. He has since made a full recovery and is a permanent resident. Next we have a 18 to 25 year old grade halflinger mare who is a few hunderd pounds under weight but is coming along nicely. She might be up for adoption in the future to the right home. Also we have Star who is a 27 year old reg. Arabian mare who we got from a kill buyer who lives about 2 miles from us. She was so under weight that you could count every bone in her body and she had three inches of matted hair on her back. She looks so good now after lots of feed, love, and care, that even the man that we bought her from didn't reconize her. She is also a permanent resident.We just recently rescued a 15 year old reg. Arabian mare named Haddas Aka Sonja at the same time that we got Sonja we also were given a yearling reg. Pinto Arabian stud colt. We can always use donations of just about everything.We are NOT tax deductable as we are private at this time but we are looking into the 501c thing to see if it would be right for us.
