1.
Begin by looking over the
resources to get a good idea of the information that you will be using.
2.
Then, decide which aspects of colonial life your group will be
focusing on. Remember you need to
choose five for the entire group.
3.
Once you have chosen the five
areas of focus, give each group member one area that they will research.
4.
After you have decided on your
individual topics begin to research that topic by using the web resources
provided.
5.
After gathering as much
information as possible, you need to write a paragraph (or 2) about the
topic. Remember your paragraph needs to
entice the reader to want to visit the colonies. Therefore, even if you think that the topic you researched would
make a person not want to visit, you need to write it in a positive way. Be Persuasive!
6.
Find a picture on the internet or draw a picture that relates to
your topic that can be included on the brochure.
7.
Have all of your group members
read your section. They should
proofread and revise as necessary.
8.
Your brochure will be created
from construction paper that is folded into three sections to look like a
brochure. Hold the paper long ways in
front of you

Then fold the right side and the left side into the middle so
that you have three equal parts. Number
the panels, in small numbers with light pencil, beginning on the left side of
one sheet of the paper. It should be 1,
2, 3 on one side. Flip the paper over so that the numbers are on the
bottom. Then number 4, 5, 6.
9.
Each person will receive one
panel for their writing and picture.
One panel will be left over for the front cover (this will be panel
6)
10.
You will need to type your
paragraph and then format it (With teacher help if necessary) so that it will
fit on your panel along with your picture.
11.
Your group will work together to
design a front cover to the brochure.
It may be typed or hand written neatly and drawn.
12.
When every thing is completed
neatly and exactly they way you would like it please give it to your teacher
for evaluation.
13. Complete the group member evaluation sheet and return to your teacher.
