Despite being compeititve in many of their games, the Hurricanes were unable to achieve a winning record. The team also won three of its games by forfeit, including a game in which they lost 42-20 to Minnesota. Due to mounting costs of traveling to the mainland, the Hurricanes folded after the 1998 season, but were replaced by the Hawaii Hammerheads the following year.
