This truck has the ability to pump foam and water. It can carry 5 people to an emergancy scene, with 4 MSA SCBA's.
Rescue 20: Rescue 20 is a green and white 1983 (I think) GMC. It carries 6 MSA Air Packs, as well as up to 8 people. On this truck you will find the Hurst Tool, HazMat materials, Stokes Basket, a variety of hand tools, air bags, cribbing, rope rescue equiptment, some medical supplies, and just about anything else under the sun. We call Rescue 20 "The Pickle."
Rescue Boat 20: The boat, used by the Punxsutawney Fire Dept Water Rescue Team, is housed at Central. This team is comprised of SCUBA divers, boat crew and ground support personnel. The boat responds to all Water Rescue Calls. The Water Resuce Team gets about 2 or 3 calls per year, and trains often in the lakes surrounding Punxsutawney.
Special Response Trailer: A new addition to Central Fire Department is the Special Response Trailer. The trailer is set up to handle Haz-mat and Mass Casualty incidents. Read the Punxsutawney Spirit Article to find out more about the trailer.

Retired Equiptment

1936 Aerial: "36" originally purchased by the Punxsutawney Fire Department from Dodge Bros. It is an aerial ladder truck with the original wooden ladders. The truck was used for many years in Punxsutawney and then put away for storage. The members found the truck, years later, in disrepair. They took it upon themselves to refurbish the truck, from the ground up. The ladders were refinished, the seat recovered, and the entire truck repainted to look the way that it did in 1936. Pieces that were missing when the project began, such as antique extinguishers, were returned. The truck now rests in it's home at the Central Fire Hall in Punxsutawney. It is not used for firefighting operations.

Truck 20: This 1965 American LaFrance met it's untimely doom when it was out for inspection in Aug. of 2002. The parking brake malfunctioned and the Truck rolled backwards over a bank, through a field, and into a creek. Truck 20 was stripped down and sent to Firetruck Heaven a few months later. During it's life, it fought many fires, like the Charlie Chen's fire when a block of Downtown Punxsy burnt. The last Ladder Captain at Central was Jim Esposito.
Tanker 20: Tanker 20 is a homemade creation, build by the members of Central using an old Ryder truck. It sits on a Ford chassis, and has a 1,500 gallon tank. The truck also has pump capablitites. The tank is enclosed in a Box, as opposed to a cylandrical tank. Tanker 20 also carries a portable tank for rural water supply. Tanker 20 was sold to the Colbert Heights Fire Department in Tuscumba Alabama. Read the Punxsutawney Spirit article on Tanker 20's new home.
