· Run standard installation process included in Linksys CD package
· Access Router menu by opening up IE/Firefox and typing in the Default Gateway (192.168.1.1)
· Enter generic password given by Linksys.
· Go to Linksys.com, downloads, (your product ID), firmware, and download latest firmware.
IN ROUTER MENU
Go to Administration -> Firmware Upgrade and upload the firmware
(restart comp if needed)
Setup -> Basic Setup
Change to Static IP and change IP, Subnet, Gateway,
DNS 1 and 2 to that given by PSU
Change router name if needed
Change local IP address to anything (192.168.1.1), change
Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0
Enable DHCP Server
Have starting ip
end in anything (.100)
Max users be anything,
depending on how many things you have.
**SAVE
SETTINGS**
Setup -> MAC Address Clone
Enable
Click Clone Your PC’s MAC (can
double check correct address on www.rescom.psu.edu)
**SAVE SETTINGS**
Wireless -> Basic Wireless Settings
Wireless Network mode is Mixed
Create a Unique SSID
Wireless Channel is 6 – 2.437 GHz
Enable SSID Broadcast
**SAVE SETTINGS**
Wireless -> Wireless Security
Security mode is WEP
Enter unique password and click Generate (write down Key
1 for use as a password on Wii)
**SAVE SETTINGS**
Security -> Firewall
Have the following checked: Block Anonymous Requests,
Filter Multicast, Filter IDENT
**SAVE SETTINGS**
Apps and Gaming -> DMZ
Disable
**SAVE SETTINGS**
Administration -> Management
Change password
Enable UPnP
**SAVE SETTINGS**
To enable each person to use the internet, they will need to change their internet settings.
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet Connections -> Network Connections
Right click on Local
Area Connection -> Properties
Scroll down to Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
Change the IP Address to these for each person’s computer
Example comp. 192.168.1.100
Leave Subnet Mask as 255.255.255.0
Change Default Gateway to 192.168.1.1
Click OK on everything
Internet should be working.
WII SETTINGS
Click Wii on bottom left
Click Wii Settings -> Internet -> Connection Settings -> Connection 1
Use Wireless Connection. Pick out custom SSID name. Manually put in settings including:
WEP Security: Use the generated Alpha-Numerical password
IP Address: 192.168.1.105
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: Same as PSU given numbers
Don’t Use Proxy Server
Go back
Enable WiiConnect24
Enable Standby Connection
Go to Wii System Update and download all updates.
