Everything is happening this year, it seems. A long postponed trip to the beach, another one in the fall to Cape Cod, cruises at fantastic prices, and a visit to my parents. Nobody has that kind of vacation time if they are still working. Does anyone still accumulate days? I know someone who works for local government who had six months accumulated at one point.
Here's one that might be of interest to others; a last minute, very reasonable 7 day Alaska cruise on Princess, one of my personal favorite cruise lines. This link takes you directly to the itinerary for May 30, which is $319 for an inside cabin.

We did an inside cabin to Alaska, and didn't feel we missed anything. We hardly spend any time in our cabin anyway, so staying out on deck to make sure we didn't miss anything was not a hardship. Unfortunately, it was on Royal Caribbean, so there were many things we didn't like about this trip. We do have to go back to Alaska again, and it's too bad this one is such short notice.
