Local Happenings:

McTabs Program--Charitable Collection

The McTabs program consists of collecting beverage tabs to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. At Clearfield Area High School, the homeroom thats collects the most tabs at the end of each month receives a pizza party compliment of J.G. Food Warehouse and Fox's Pizza Den and Dominos Pizza. The project ran from November through February. One of our members, Clair Woodel, actually did this project as his Senior Graduation Project.

Dress Casual for a Cause Day

Staff members of the Clearfield Area High School "dress down" on two Fridays a month--the Friday closest to the 15th of the month and payday. Each staff member donates money to participate in this occasion. All proceeds are donated to the FBLA state project, The American Red Cross.

Ringing the Bell for a Cause!

On December 13, 2006, FBLA members volunteered their time to ring the bell for the Salvation Army from 4-9 p.m. at Ollie's.

SLC 2007

On April 30 through May 2 thirteen members will be attending the State Leadership Conference in Hershey, PA. Each member will be participating in an event with the chance to move on to the National level. The group will hear many motovational speakers, and attend many different workshops to better their leadership qualities. Past Events:

Region 14 RLC:

January 12, 2007--The Regional Leadership Conference will be held at the Main Campus of DuBois Business College. Fifteen members of Clearfield FBLA participated in an event. All of the members placed in the top 4 of their event.

October 16, 2005--The Regional Leadership Workshop was held at the IU10 building in West Decatuar. The Clearfield Chapter participated in Battle of the Chapters and won first place. The Bellefonte chapter placed second

November 16, 2005--FBLA members met at the high school and passed out cookies they provided to parents who visited the high school during their Open House Session.

November 10-12, 2005--Seven members of Clearfield FBLA attended the National Fall Leadership Conference held at the Hilton Inn in East Brunswick, NJ. Dan Coll, Kathy duval, Cooper Graham, Sarah N. Graham, Melissa Leigey, Stephanie Trude, and Clair Woodel heard motivational speakers and attended workshops on a variety of subjects. A battle of the chapters took place and New Jersey took first place, and New York placed second. These students interacted with FBLA members from different states as well as U.S. possessions. The group also took a side trip to Seaside Heights to view the beach. The FBLA members recall this unique experience wtih enthusiasm and look forward to participating in similar events in the future.

Community Service

The Clearfield Chapter are taking orders for daffodils for the American Cancer Society. Orders are due on February 15, 2007. Orders will be delivered
