"My mission- to make God loved- will begin after my death. I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will send a shower of roses."

St. Therese of Liseux is known as thethe Little Flower and is a Dr. of the Church. She is also known for her little way to Jesus and her autobiography "Story of a Soul." If I were going to introduce a non Catholic to the saints of the Church I would begin with St. Therese,Francis,Anthony and Edith Stein(St. Therese Benedicta de La Cruc)-of the Cross. Of course,we would have to begin by explaining that the saints are people that we honor-not worship-because at Mass we pray IN UNION WITH the saints who have "done God's will throughout the ages." And that,I think, sums up what a saint is. St. Therese did this through her 'little way'. But we have to admit that sometimes the the little way of things is the largest. Here are some quotes of St. Therese as well as links to information, prayers and novenas associated w/ her. Included are a few links to general information about saints and a few Carmetlite communities. In a few weeks there will be one new page added with info re St. Francis and St. Anthony. The link will be here. Peruse, enjoy and grow!

"I do not desire either suffering or death, although both are appealing to me; it is love alone which really attracks me... I can ask for nothing with any enthusiasm except the perfect accomplishment of the Divine Will in my soul, unhindered by any intrusion of created things. I can say, with the words of our father,St. John of the Cross, in his Spiritual Canticle,"I drank in the inner cellar of my Beloved, and when I went forth into the meadow I forgot everything and lost the flock which I used to drive. My soul has employed all its resources in His service; now I guard no flock, nor do I have any other duties. Now my only occupation is love." Or again: "I know love is so powerful that it can turn whatever is good or bad in me into profit, and it can transform my soul into Himself."
"If I am humble,I am entitled, without offending the good Lord, to do small foolish things until I die. Look at little children. They constantly break things, tear them up, fall, and all the while, in spite of that, they love their parents very much. Well, when I fall in this way, like a child, it makes me realize my nothingness and my weakness all the better and I say to myself:What would become of me? What would I be able to accomplish if I were to relyon my own powers alone?" But this does not mean we become fixed on our faults and imperfections. Instead we fix our eyes on Jesus himself: "When we see that we are wretched,we no longer wish to look at ourselves but we gazeat our only Beloved... We have merely to love Him, without looking at ourselves, without examining our faults too much... If you are nothing, do not forget that Jesus is ALL. Hence, lose your little nothingness in his infinite all and think only of that All,who alone is lovable."![]()
LETTER TO HER SISTER,CELINE:
"We would like never to fall. What an illusion! What does it matter, my Jesus, if I fall at every moment? I come to recognize by it how weak I am and thatis gain for me. You see by that how little I am able to doand You will be more likely to carry me in your arms. If you do not do so, it is because you like to see me prostrate on the ground.Well, then, I am not going to worry, but I will always stretch out my suppliant arms toward You with great love. I cannot believe You would abandon me."(April 26, 1889) NOTE:if you find any duplicatedlinks please point this out.If any are broken or do not work for you please note and will take care of it asap!
