The following letter was handed out to all parents:

Dear Parents,

For several years now, Brookville Gymnastics has continually grown beyond expectations.  Along with this, so has the Parent Organization.  While involvement of all parents is crucial, the size of the meetings needs to be reduced.  This leads to a restructuring of the Parents Meeting.  The meetings will now be held like a board meeting, as this is not uncommon for any professional organization to be run this way.  The goal of this restructuring is to make a more efficient, organized, and professional organization.  As was tried last year, there will be a Parent Representative for each level.  This Representative will be responsible for attending the meetings and presenting any questions, concerns, and suggestions their level may have.  The meetings will also include Kellie, & the current Officers.  The benefits for this restructuring are 3-fold:

1.       All parents can be represented at all meetings.

2.       More efficient use of time for all those involved.

3.       Many parents (especially new ones) may feel more comfortable talking to one parent rather than a large group.

This change is not meant to exclude, but rather to include, those who cannot make it to the meetings (it is impossible to set a time, day, and place that is convenient for every parent to attend) and also those who are not inclined to speak up in a group.    The Parent Representatives for each level are:

·          Level 4   ~Beth Grant

·          Level 5   ~Debbie Crook

·          Level 6   ~Lynda Reinard

·          Level 7   ~Diane King

·          Level 8   ~Kellie & Sue Day

Our Team has always been the most dignified and professional Team at the meets we attend.  This is an excellent opportunity for our Parent Organization to do the same.

Make sure you check our website often as we keep it up to date as needed at:

www.Angelfire.com/pa5/bkvlgymf

As always, Kellie is always there for your coaching questions and concerns.

Sincerely,

Kellie, Sue, Sharon, Melorra, and Jackie

~The reason that this is being done, is that the only things to discuss right now are fundraising and to wrap up everything by the time Kellie is done.  Check the WEBSITE!!

COACHES REPORT

Kelli noted that judging this year has not been consistent so don’t compare scores from meet to meet.  Please remember gymnasts are to stay until awards for every girl has been handed out.

Kelli also reminded parents to only let gymnasts wear their warm-ups to a meet.

Please do not talk to a judge for any reason, this could cost the team a fine of $100.00.

Those who have not heard the YMCA has a new Director as of February 1.  Her name is Tina Ishman Householder.

Kellie also mentioned camps for girls this summer.  She will let parents know when & where she will be coaching this summer.

FUNDRAISERS

Plyers fundraiser will finally be closed on Friday the 20th.

Tressa Smith will do a candle fundraiser within the next few weeks for anyone wishing to participate.

Other fundraiser discussed were Krispy Kreme’s and Avon was suggested around Easter.

Big fundraisers were suggested by Sue Day for our budget for next year.  Sue suggested having a Chicken BBQ, Fish Dinner, or Spaghetti dinner.  The gun drawing Kelley Lindermuth suggested will be discussed with her later.

Melorra Fleming and 2nd by Juanita Smith to hold a Fish Dinner around March 31st.  It was voted and passed.

Anyone with sweatshirt or jacket orders to turn them into Sue Day.

Meeting was adjourned by Juanita Smith and 2nd by Ginger Taube.

Jana Rake

                                 November 16, 2005

Meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm.

Minutes were approved by Melorra Fleming and seconded by Marlene Kennedy.

The Treasurer's report was approved by Diane King and seconded by Marlene Kennedy.

Kellie thanked all the parents who made our meet such a success.  She said it gets better every year.  In regards to the meet with Greensburg, Kellie asked everyone going to please be there by 6:00 pm.  There will be no Gymnastics practice November 23 to 27, with November 28th Monday practice not mandatory.

The Angel Tree wrapping party will be held December 14, 2005.  The Team party will be held on December 20, 2005, in the beam room.

Level 6 to 9 Championships on April 8th are one day only.  Oil City could not get their YMCA on Sunday.

In the Spring Kelly Lindermuth asked about doing a gun drawing as a fundraiser.  It will be discussed in more detail later.   Anyone selling Pampered Chef needs to turn in money on November 28th, NO LATER!  Sheetz coupons are still out and the recycle boxes for cell phones and ink cartridges are still out.

There was an Invitational proposal wrote up for next year stating our meet be used for filling our budget and doing away with individual IGA's except to benefit each girl ( example: paying meet fees, paying way to nationals, or any other gymnastics related event.)  It was voted and passed by everyone in attendance.  (Proposal follows minutes).

The meeting was adjourned by Melorra Fleming and seconded by Linda Reinard.

Jana Rake

At Octobers’ Parent Meeting a motion was made to vote on a proposal at the November meeting, pertaining to the Invitational becoming a fundraiser to go solely to the annual budget.  Our meet is already one of the best Invitationals in the league and by making the profits benefit our TEAM budget, it will promote all of us working together as a TEAM for the best interest of our program.

The proposal is as follows:

Beginning the 2006-2007 Brookville YMCA Gymnastics Competitive season, the Invitational hosted by the team, held approximately the first week of November each year, will be solely for the purpose of funding the team budget.

Every member of the team must have a parent, relative or guardian present and working at this meet to be able to compete that season.  Duties that are required are as follows:

1.      Set-up or Tear Down

2.      Work at least 1 Full Session

3.      Be on a Committee

4.      Donate a Concession Item ($10.00 Value)

5.      Donate a Chinese Auction Item ($10.00 Value)

If for some reason you are unable to fulfill these duties you will be responsible for your gymnasts share of the budget in full.

Thanks,

Sue Day
