Notes from the Coach

Level 5/6 Champs are now being held on March 24th at Greensburg.

Level 4 States will be March 17-18th at York.

Exhibition at the High School between basketball games on March 30th...this is the same day as the fish dinner so we are going to have to get creative with the timing.  I'll let you know who is doing the show.  I'd like to do 2 routines...one with 4's & 5's and one with the upper levels.

Don't forget about the Big 10's at Penn State!  this is on March 31st!  You can wear your Team warm-up jackets to the meet.

Big 10 NCAA March 31st (Sat.).  Order tickets from Kellie ASAP at $3.00 a piece.  Level 4 Kiski Championships & States are at Hanover, PA (24 & 25 of March).

Level 5 & 6 Championships at Greensburg March, 17 & 18.  States will be  in Hatboro.

Optional Championships at AVY 4/21-4/22.  States will be at Kiski 5/5&6.

Be at Franklin this weekend (1-27-07).  Be there at 10:15.  Meet starts at 12:00.  Kellie is still looking into the Exhibitions at Brookville during a Wrestling match, & at Punxs'y during the State Police VS. Steelers Basketball game.  Kellie will let us know when a final time and date is made.  We will also be doing an exhibition at the Altoona curve game on 7/14/07.  Only 20-25 girls will be able to go.  A suggestion was made that we do an exhibition during the Laurel Festival?!

Please make sure you sign up for the National Hotel rooms ASAP.  Brenda Fleming is taking sign ups for rooms for the level  5 & 6 States.  Please see her if interested.

Remember  always check your flash on camera at meets!  You camera will now be taken!!

Bring back Championship papers ASAP.

Make sure you use all of your IGA this year if there's any left over form Nationals.  We will not be able to carry this over once Kellie's gym opens & we leave the YMCA.

ATTENTION!!!

I feel the need to review some of our Team Rules and Responsibilities.  We seem to be missing some of the points that are very important from a Team standpoint.

Please do NOT leave a meet before awards are given.  Even if you have had the worst meet of your life!  We are a TEAM and you need to be there for your entire Team...not just your level.  It is also very insulting for the host team of a dual or tri meet to be handing out awards (that they pay for themselves) where only 5 gymnasts remain.  It is also very embarrassing for me and my coaches.  I understand that there are always exceptions...sickness, injury, etc.  Time is NOT an excuse.  If you sign up for a dual meet then you are making a commitment for that entire day.  It is not a choice for you as a Team member to decide whether or not you want to stay for awards.  It is part of the meet.  You are required to stay.  I probably am to blame for allowing gymnasts to leave in the past.  I assure you that I will correct that mistake on my part.

Also, do NOT wear your Team Uniform to school or anywhere except to a meet.  This is a matter of respect.  We have sweatshirts, jackets, t-shirts, etc. with Brookville Gymnastics on it to wear outside of the gym.  Do NOT wear your Team Leotard to practice either.  Former uniforms may be worn as long as you were a member of Team.  We take great pride in our Gymnastics Team.  We do not think it is fair for non-members to be wearing Team Uniform apparel.  Please respect your Team.

Do NOT compare your score to a teammate's score.  This shows very poor sportsmanship on your part.  I will not have that happen on this Team.  You need to clap and show support for your teammates...and even for other teams.  Take a lesson from Emily Dinger or Ashley King.

Look around at the next meet you are at.  Who is the best behaved and most disciplined Team there?  We are.  Which teams are messing around during the meet and awards?  Not us.  Brookville has always been the most professional Team at meets for over 8 years.  I plan on keeping it that way.  That doesn't start at competitions...it starts at the gym.  You need to follow these rules...and take pride in being a member of Brookville Gymnastics.

Thanks,

Kellie
