Henry A. Zimmerman, 74, of 105 Swetland Lane, West Wyoming, died Friday morning in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born on Larksville Mountain on August 24, 1908, he was a son of the late John and Ellen Davis Zimmerman, and attended Larksville schools.
He had previously resided in the Cooper Hill section of Courtdale before moving to West Wyoming several years ago.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Zimmerman was employed as a deep coal miner for the D&H Colliery in Larksville, and had also worked in the South Wilkes-Barre branch of the colliery.
He was a member of Bennett United Methodist Church, Luzerne.
His wife, the former Anna Whitson, died in February of this year and a son, Donald, in 1961. Two brothers, John and Herbert, also preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Henry A. Jr., Wilkes-Barre; two daughters, Mrs. Elmira Williams, West Wyoming and Mrs. Robert (Carol) Kubasti, Swoyersville; two brothers, William, Luzerne and George, Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Areio (Leona) Walsh, Montana; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday at 11 A.M. from the Blazejewski-Antosh Funeral Home, 269 Bennett St., Luzerne, with Rev. Louis Falcone, pastor of Dr. Edwards Memorial Congregational Church, Edwardsville, officiating.
Interment will be in the Pinelawn section of Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton.
