What group is my son in?

Scouting involvement begins at 1st grade and continues to a boy is 18 years old. The ranks are as follows:

1st grade Tiger

2nd grade Wolf

3rd grade Bear

4 th grade Jr. Webelos

5th grade Sr. Webelos

6-12th grade Boy Scouts of America

What do they do?

Each group of 4- 8 boys in the same grade are grouped into a Den. Each den meets (on average) once every other week. They follow the Cub Scout Handbook and achieve merits toward a badge at graduation. These merits cover: family life, sports, citizenship, culture, environment and government. All activities are designed for their age group and promotes self-esteem and teamwork.

All the Dens ( grade 1-5) meet once a month at a Pack Meeting to sing, present a skit and show what art and activities each den has produced the last month and award merits that have been earned. Parents are required to be attend and all sibling and friends are invited. Cub Scouting is a family environment and we wish the whole family to be involved.

Where do the Dens meet?

Den and Pack meetings will be at the Messiah Lutheran Church unless another location is specified.

 

 

How often do they meet?

Each den meets (on average) once every other week. The den leader will notify you of upcoming meetings.

How Much does it cost for Registration?

Registration for the 2005-2006 scouting year is $ 55.00 per child. Make check payable to : Cub Scout Pack 122

This covers the charter fees to the BSA, required insurance and art and craft supplies.

 

What will he have to wear to the meetings?

Pack 122 – Newtown Square requires the following uniform to be worn at den meeting and Pack meetings:

Cub Scout shirt ( Blue or Tan depending on your den)

Cub Scout hat

Neckerchief

Neckerchief slide

 

 

Where can I purchase them?

To acquire the uniform, you can either shop from the J.C. Penney's catalog or go to the Boy Scout Shop in Valley Forge on Rte. 252 South.
