After Spikes is used, any time an opposing pokemon switches in, it will take damage equivalent to 1/8th of its maximum HP (by integer division). Flying type pokemon are immune to this effect. Spikes is not actually targeted at an opposing pokemon, therefore it is unaffected by modifiers to Accuracy or Evade, or other moves that would cause it to miss. The effects of Spikes will continue until the end of the match or if one of the opposing pokemon uses the move Rapid Spin. |
