Good Turn for America , Log your service hours!

Tell us about your Service Project

We know that Scouts across the nation are answering the call to service. This program encourages scouts and members of your community to volunteer, but it also recognizes the service that the scouts are already doing. This program began January 1, 2004. Please record all service projects that benefit the community and are done by your Pack, Den, Troop, Patrol or Crew. If you discover that your unit isn’t doing very much community service, then this is a good time to remind them that serving the community is a large part of the Scouting program.

We want every unit to register on the web site and record the community service that your unit does. This is a National Boy Scout Program. Total numbers of hours of volunteer work will be charted and recorded for each unit, district and council. The Boy Scouts of America will announce these totals each February as part of it’s anniversary celebration. Do your part and make all the Scouts of the Japeechen District and Greater Pittsburgh Council proud.

To tell the story of how your den, pack, patrol, troop, or crew, is contributing to this effort, log onto goodturnforamerica.org and select the data collection button on the left of the screen. You will need your Good Turn for America ID# to enter the data collection site. Please use the paper LOG SHEET to enter the information onto the web site. The # of participants and hours that you record are those that are associated with your unit or that your unit encouraged to volunteer. After entering the data, your unit will be eligible to receive the Good Turn for America patch and year segment. Your can purchase these at the Flag Plaza Scout Shop. Please enter all your community service projects throughout the year, no matter how small. The Good Turn For America program will run until 2009.
