JOHN F. CARR MEMORIAL AWARD

Hanover Area's Ryan Konetski received the John F. Carr Memorial Award and Scholarship at Parents' Night prior to the Hazleton - Hanover dual meet.

The award is given to the most outstanding student-athlete member of the varsity wrestling team. A committee of fans headed by Mr. Robert Hawkins follows the team throughout the season and awards the scholarship based on both athletic and academic merit.

John Carr was both head coach and an educator at Hanover Area for many years bringing much distinction to the wrestling program. The award includes a bronzed plaque presented to each year's recipient, a name plaque which is displayed in the trophy case at the high school, and a $500 scholarship to be used toward furthering their education. Two of the previous winners,  Mike Griffith and Tim Martinez, have gone on to attend and wrestle for the King's College Monarchs where they helped the team establish a record season.  Eric Bleich is attending Wilkes University and competes at the 197 pound weight class.
