"Yellow Submarine" is the soundtrack album to the Beatles 1968 animated movie "Yellow Submarine". The movie was excellent, less can be said about the album. "Yellow Submarine" is more of a collection of songs than an actual album. Only 4 new Beatles tracks were composed, "Yellow Submarine" and "All You Need Is Love" were on prevoius albums and the rest of the tracks on the album are instrumentals composed by George Martin. The album begins with "Yellow Submarine" See "Revolver" "Only A Northern Song is probably George's worst song ever. The melody is repetative and boring and the vocals sound tired. "All Together" is a sing-along song of Paul's. It isn't bad but pumped up with the usual amount of McCartney chumminess. "Hey Bulldog" is an awsome hard piano rocker of John's. The lyrics are cool and so is the overall concept of the song. "It's All Too Much" is better than George's "Only A Northen Song" but it's nothing memorable. "All You Need Is Love" See "Magical Mystery Tour". Tracks 7-13 are all George Martin orchestrations. They're pretty good, but they sould have been released as a separate album and more Beatles tracks added too this one. All in all "Yellow Submarine" is a pretty weak offering and is not much of Beatles album. If you really wanna hear this one I suggest going out and buying the new versionthat was released just this year.
