When it was released "The Beatles" quickly became recognized as "The White Album". There is so much material on this album that they issued it on two discs. Some of the stuff is great and some of it isn't all that great. In general this is a really good album with the exception of a few weak tracks. The album begins with "Back In The U.S.S.R." which is an awsome rocker by Paul and is a great start to the album. Next up is "Dear Prudence" which is a wonderful song of John's about someone who wants to be shut off from the world. The lavishly overdubbed acoustic guitars are nice and the lyrics send out the good message to get out and enjoy life. "Glass Onion" is an awsome song. The music and lyrics are cool and it provides many clues to the "Paul is Dead" rumor. "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" is good the first time you hear it but after a while it gets annoying. "Wild Honey Pie" is a waste of disc space. "The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill" is a fun sing-along song. The story is kinda cool. "While My Guitar Gentley Weeps" is a real piece of work. One of George's best ever. This is definetly a standout song on the album. Eric Clapton plays on this one in case you didn't know. "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" is an excellent song of John's. The music is cool and the lyrics are great. "Martha My Dear" is a song of Paul's about his sheep dog Martha. A nice song but not a standout. "I'm So Tired" is a cool song of John's about someone who can't sleep becasue he's worried about a relationship. "Blackbird" is a simple inspirational song of Paul's. The music is excellent and the lyrics are wonderful. It's one of favorites on the album and a standout. "Piggies" is another song of George's that shows his disgust with the government. It has a good tune though and some of the lyrics are quite funny. "Rocky Raccoon" is a cool song of Paul's about a cowboy named Rocky Raccoon, who gets into fight with another guy over a girl, gets shot, recovers and finds God. "Don't Pass Me By" is Ringo's first attempt at writing an entire song. It's not very good but you gotta give him some credit. "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" is really stupid. The less aid about this one the better. "I Will" redeems Paul for the awful "Why Don't We Do It In The Road". The lyrics are nice and the tune is simple yet fits the song well. This is a popular wedding song. "Julia" is a classic. A nice song of John's. He's singing to his mother Julia who died when he was 17 in the verses, and he's singing to Yoko in the bridges. This song is one of my favorites on the album. Excellent song.

"Bithday" is an awsome song. It has an upbeat hard rock sound and is way cooler than "Happy Birthday". "Yer Blues" is a cool song. It also has a hard rock sound. John's singing is awsome on this one. "Mother Nature's Son" is a nice song of Paul's that talks about being at peace with yourself and nature. "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey" is pretty cool. The guitar riff is neat but the lryics are really strange. "Sexy Sadie" is a song of John's where he is expressing his dissappointment with the Maharishi. "Helter Skelter" is an awsome song. Paul's heavy-metal singing goes over the top in the one and so does everybody else. "Long, Long, Long" is okay but it isn't one of George's better songs on the album. "Revolution 1" is a slower version of the song "Revolution" on "Past Masters II". John is crusading for peace and really feels that we can change the world with music. "Honey Pie" is decent. Not one of Paul's best but not one of his worst either. "Savoy Truffle" is a cool song. The lyrics are good and the guitar lick is awsome. "Cry Baby Cry" is okay not one of my favorites though. "Revolution 9" is really weird. It a terrible song...if you want to call it that. "Goodnight" is a great way to wrap up the album. The song is perfectly suited to Ringo and he pulls the vocals off with ease. All in all "The Beatles" is a really cool album.
