"Revolver" was a work of art in it's own and it is probably my favorite Beatles album. I'm not saying it was they're best because "Sgt. Pepper" was but it's my favorite. It single-handedly made "Beatlemania" irrelivent. There are no weak tracks. The songs have more better more complex melodies, harmonies and musical arrangement than "Rubber Soul". It could almost be like a volume 2 album. There is a wide variety of music and styles on this one with John who began expirementing with mind-altering drugs writing weird, bizzare, songs. Paul's compositions became more classical and less rock n' roll. George,who got three cuts on the album began speaking out against government and writing more Indian music. Ringo's presence on the albums became a standard thing. Revolver starts off with George's "Taxman" which is him speaking out against the British government. The guitar leads are awsome and his songwriting continues to improve. "Eleanor Rigby" is a song of Paul's that is about a woman who is all alone, only to find someone when she dies. "I'm Only Sleeping" is a song of John's that waves off reality's nightmares. The backwards guitars in this song are cool. "Love You To" is George's first song that he wrote entirely for the sitar. It's really cool sounding. "Here, There And Everywhere" is a classic. A wonderful love song of Paul's which really expresses emotion and could be played at weddings. The harmonies are excellent. "Yellow Submarine" is probably one of the best known Beatle's songs. It has a catchy tune, a good beat, and Ringo's vocals are outstanding. "She Said She Said" is a great song of John's. He is having a conversation with a girl who supposedly knows "what it's like to be dead." The guitars in this one are awsome. "Good Day Sunshine" is a catchy, upbeat, feel-good song of Paul's that just makes you feel good when you listen to it. "And Your Bird Can Sing" is another classic. The lyrics are a little weird but the guitars are great in it and the harmonies are excellent. "For No One" is an excellent song of Paul's which tells about someone living in a loveless relationship. "Doctor Robert" is a funny song about John's dentist who slipped John, George, and their wives LSD in their coffee. "I Want To Tell You" is a great song. The opening guitar riff is classic and the lyrics make your mind wander. "Got To Get You Into My Life" is one of my all-time favorites. It is an excellent, superb, awsome song of Paul's. The saxes and trumpets are cool and George's 10 second guitar lick near the end is totally outstanding. "Tomorrow Never Knows" is just bizzare. There are pieces and clips of sounds everywhere with John's vocal right in the middle. It's kinda cool cuase if you close your eyes you can almost visualize what John is talking about. It serves as the gateway into "Sgt. Pepper". "Revolver" is the Beatles at their best and is not to be missed out on. This is a must have for any true Beatles fan.
